As the name suggests, the club is more focused on coin hunting. But this club also has members interested in uncovering metals and historical artifacts from the Earth’s surface.

The club is old at this stage and operates under strict rules and regulations formed by the members themselves.

This club has one of the friendlier environments among the clubs. And as it caters to a specific niche, the membership is on the high spectrum.

As the name suggests, the club is based in the Louisville area. Even though the club is newer, it has the most prominent member population out of the clubs mentioned in the list.

Many club members are in the club, and some are focused on one goal.

That is recovering historical artifacts in the region and safely returning them to the authorities. That is what surprised me.

As metal detectors, we always try to keep some of the stuff we detect as keepsakes or boast about our achievements for some time. But these noble people gift what they recover for the betterment of society.

The membership is relatively cheap, and if you want to join this noble cause, I suggest you join the club. I am proud to say that I am a lifetime club member.

There are sessions hosted by the club to explain the importance of preserving these artifacts and how to detect them.

There are sessions for younger and new enthusiasts to sharpen their skills.

Even if you don’t have a metal detector, there are metal detectors available at the club that you can work with until you get your first metal detector.

Tips For Selecting Metal Detecting Club in Kentucky

Among the many clubs, it will take much work to find the best-suited and ideal one for you as multiple clubs will offer something unique to them.

And if you are someone from outside, just like me, the process is even more complicated.

And as the memberships cost money, you can only be part of some clubs.

Here are some tips and tricks that I used to select the metal-detecting club that is best suited for me.

1. Research

The best way to find the best club for you is to research it. Research can be carried out by looking at it online or even personally meeting the members.

While researching, look for factors like,

  • How many participants are in the group
  • How the club operates in terms of rules and regulations
  • Is the club legitimate and supports ethical metaled training
  • Does you have to be physically present to be a member of the club
  • How much is the membership fees

With these factors and asking questions about these factors, you might get answers to most of your questions.

If the club has many members and operates smoothly, that means the club is functional. Sometimes, there might be clubs that need to be helpful but might urge you to join them.

You have to avoid these kinds of clubs and take your time getting the membership—research thoroughly before deciding.

The money you spend on club membership should not be an expense. Instead, it should be an investment.

Talking about money, you have to consider the membership fees too. Some clubs require a yearly subscription while you are joining the club.

However, some clubs only require a three-month subscription for a monthly subscription.

If you are not from Kentucky or don’t plan to visit Kentucky frequently, I suggest you go to the later clubs. Because then your subscription fees will be much less than the yearly subscription.

Suppose you are someone from Kentucky or planning to visit Kentucky frequently.

In that case, you can opt for the yearly subscription because it will provide more opportunities to meet people and share knowledge.

Some clubs require you to be physically present to be a member. Most clubs nowadays don’t require that, but some clubs still do.

So, make sure that the club you are joining doesn’t need you to be continuously physically present in the club.

2. Location of the club

Before selecting the club, ensure it is located somewhere easily accessible. This matters most for someone planning on being a club member for a long time.

Suppose the club is far from your residence or a town area, making it harder to access and even taking so much time.

So make sure the club you are choosing is easily accessible to you.

3. Activities and Events

Some clubs organize weekly activities and events. These are excellent opportunities for people to meet and share their experiences.

If the club tries to get its members engaged in activities constantly, it is a functioning and good club.

So when selecting, don’t be afraid to ask about how frequently they hold meetings and what activities are planned for the summer, for this week, this month.

Even after clearing these questions, ask whether you must pay extra to participate in these events.

4. Reviews of Club

When you are joining a club, make sure to look into its history a little bit.

Just like you are uncovering metal from the earth’s surface, uncover any secrets of the club by digging up its past.

What better way to know about a club than reading its reviews? Read the reviews posted online thoroughly before joining any club.

If there aren’t any reviews online, ask the local older adults of the community.

They will provide you with more than what you need.

Some clubs have forums dedicated to them, and memberships for these forums are much less than the club memberships.

So, if you want to know more about the club, you can also go online and ask from the forum.

5. Ethics and Personal Compatibility

You have to ensure that the club you are joining is a club that follows ethical rules of medical detecting. And a club that promotes honest metal detecting and prohibiting illegal stuff.

As this is a highly sophisticated area and a hobby, mainly dealing with historical and archeological resources, a club must follow a strict code of conduct.

If a club operates appropriately, it benefits you and the metal-detecting community.

So before joining the club, ask for guest participation and see whether their rules align with yours.

And if the club’s rule does not harm the ethical side of metal detecting. If all of these align perfectly, I suggest you join that club.

These are all the facts and tips I have to share with you for choosing the best club to join.

Apart from these, some things like communication capabilities, members, and community of the club are deciding factors to join a club too.

Finally, I suggest doing what you think is the best. Suppose you believe that even though all this aligns perfectly and something is off, it is better not to join the club.

The same goes for the opposite end; if the club doesn’t seem perfect, but you are eager to join it, I suggest you join and find out.

Because most of the work in the metal detecting hobby is trial and error based, don’t be afraid to leap faith in this hobby.
